After 6 years of head coaching, and 9 total years at Beckman High, I have decided to step away to explore other opportunities in life. Looking for a new head coach to take over and continue growing the Beckman Wrestling program. It's in a very good place, perfect for a new head coach to grow without having to reinvent the wheel or start from scratch.
Positives:
Strong, positive team culture and dedicated wrestlers
Assistant coaches are planning to return next season - 4 total: 3 alumni and 1 on-campus teacher
Already have a great lower level boys head coach
Already have a female coach for the girls
Nice wrestling room, not shared with other programs
Very supportive Athletic Directors and Department
Just ordered a new mat
Booster club supports the coaches decisions and needs
I plan to leave transition information and documents for the new coach, can even help with planning the first season
5 CIF placers last year (3 boys and 2 girls)
THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR A COACH WHO IS READY TO JUMP RIGHT IN! No need to worry about hiring a staff, lack of funds, hard-to-work with admin/boosters, or starting from zero. Could be good for a new/young coach, or an experienced coach who is happy to have support already built in. The assistant coaches have relationships with the wrestlers and with the school that can be leveraged to get things done for the team. They can also run practices while the new coach gets their bearings. They will follow the direction of a new coach who works with them.

It's been a fun almost decade and I am sad about leaving Orange County wrestling. I had many mentors and friends along the way. That list is long. Maybe I'll make another post to thank everyone some day...
