Hi everyone,
I wanted to bring up an incident yesterday involving Jimmy (Corona HS's Coach) at the CIF consolation rounds for the 135 lbs weight class between Corona and Tustin. During the match, the Tustin athlete suffered an injury. As the injury time was running out, she was getting up but the trainer wouldn't let her. Despite this, the Tustin athlete got up a second or two after the timer and was ready to continue wrestling. The referee, whistle in mouth with both girls at the center, was about to resume the match when Jimmy swooped in, arguing that the Tustin athlete had gotten up too late. The referee, easily influenced, sided with Jimmy and awarded the match to the Corona wrestler.
It's disheartening to see the Tustin athlete's hard work and determination dismissed because of Jimmy's interference. It seems clear that Jimmy recognized the Tustin athlete's superior skills and acted quickly to ensure she couldn't continue. This type of behavior is unacceptable and damages the integrity of the sport and trust in adults.
It's time for the wrestling authorities to step in and address individuals like Jimmy, who prioritize their own egos over the dreams and efforts of dedicated athletes.
Thanks to you both for the support and standing up for Samantha with us. We truly hope the culture changes for the next group of girls. We aren't done. If they think because she's a senior they can sweep it under the rug again, they are greatly mistaken. It's not even about Sammy anymore, it's about the future and doing what's right. The need to do better!
Unfortunately you will find various contradictions with in CIF bylaws. I my self have seen several when reviewing for a few different concerns.
No I recently gave Rich kudos for his handling of coaches in the weigh in room for souther section CIF. After posting new information has been present leading to me seeking clarification from Rich. It’s been a few days and no reply. I hope to receive clarification by next week.
CIF is “funny” you have to approach them with questions and clarification. I know of a few parents that have had to lawyer up to get action from CIF. It’s said that there is word play won it comes to the bylaws
It’s disappointing to report that, despite all the evidence, the CIF has chosen not to allow Samantha to wrestle at the Masters. She will most likely carry this with her forever, constantly wondering "what if?" while the adults involved move on without any sense of accountability.
When I initially emailed Tustin's AD about this situation, I Cc’d the CIF representative, who responded by citing CIF bylaws stating that decisions cannot be changed after the contest ends. While that may be true in some cases, I’ve seen CIF reverse decisions before, so that explanation doesn’t hold up here. It’s difficult to understand how this decision aligns with CIF’s commitment to fair play and the integrity of the sport. I commend the Tustin AD for her diligent efforts on behalf of Samantha.
This entire situation raises bigger questions about the way girls’ wrestling is treated. Maybe this will bring much-needed attention to some of the problems that plague girls’ wrestling. It’s hard to feel optimistic when those in positions of power refuse to step up to ensure fairness.
According to CIF’s Code of Ethics, its core mission is to promote fair competition, sportsmanship, and the development of student-athletes. Those same Ethics underlines the importance of honesty, integrity, and fairness in every aspect of the sport. Then why were Samantha’s rights overlooked in favor of a system that failed to uphold its own principles?
We owe it to our girls to ensure their voices are heard and their hard work is truly respected. I know the majority of coaches are dedicated to doing the right thing, working tirelessly to support and uplift these young girls. Don’t change; continue to prioritize fairness, transparency, and genuine sportsmanship in girls’ wrestling, ensuring every one of them has a level playing field and the opportunity to succeed.
ap
Wow, that is amazing, congratulations about your daughter!
David Falcon - Amazing work on the breakdown and rules interpretation. Thank you!
So let’s go to video.
Ref indicates injury time at 2:25
Train assist girl up at 4:06
By my math this is 1 minute and 41 seconds. This leaves 9 seconds of injury time available. Let’s say I’m of and say there 5 seconds left. Still time remaining.
Once wrestling is up both wrestlers return to center and what seems to take place is Ref signals toe the line. Corona wrestler pulls band off as if match was called. Could this be due to her team stating match was over? Possible. I’m nice Jimmy realizes ref indicates match to continue he chimes in about injury time. Assuming it was used up.
Now I do not see 25 cif rule for injury. However COF does state they follow nfhs rules unless noted. Per nhfs a total time of 1.50 is giving. It state if a second injury time is taken opposing wrestler get to choose position. If a third is taken it’s dq.
Now where is it stated time runs out it’s dq. How ever it is stated if a wrestler cannot continue due to injury a dq is awarded.
so let’s say time ran out Tustin is getting up trainers have cleared her. I assume the ref confirms if wrestler is good to go or not and makes judgement from there. In this case wrestler showed signs she ready to continue. Where in the rules does it clearly state time runs out you are dq’d?
Let look at boxing guy get knock down there’s an 8 count followed by confirmation by the ref boxer can continue. This confirmation generally take about 2-4 second before match continues. Does the same concept apply in wrestling fir injury time?
Now as far as Jimmy stating he checked in he girl. In the video you see Jimmy about 3-5 feet away learn over and take a look. Is this out of concern for the wrestler or to see if she has a chance to continue?
My guess is the ladder as jimmys girl was a Lower seed.

The ref made the call you pushed him into and for you to put good sportsmanship and your name in the same sentence is a joke. The only good sport was Samantha who still shook your hand after you screwed her over.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Well stated.
Keeping integrity of the sport is key
The only person who should be embarrassed is you
@coach Jimmy - our coach ( who is not the poster you are replying to) approached the ref to override your decision, as he should have. You should have had nothing to do with that conversation, you're the opposing coach, NOT the REF!
She's going to college for Kinesiology and unfortunately, the schools she has applied to/been accepted to, don't have wrestling. That was literally her last match. Again, totally unacceptable.
Yes, we are walking into the AD's office tomorrow. This is unacceptable behavior by a coach and the ref for allowing it to happen. Someone needs to stand up for our girls.
We are moving forward with our complaint with CIF, hoping it helps the future of girls wrestling here. Maybe if enough people speak the truth, something will have to be done.
In regards to the incident that took place at CIF finals on saturday at Corona High School, we have requested that our AD contact CIF and make a formal complaint against the Corona coach. We are completely aware this may not change the status of Samantha getting to compete this upcoming weekend, however we would like it to be noted on record about this coach's behavior. We heard from multiple people before this ever happened that this coach was known for not always doing the right thing. It's also sad that after this happened, other people said "oh he's up to his old ways again huh?"
The bottom line is this was the host schools coach who decided to overturn the referees original call and then the referee backed him and reversed his original decision. Why? COMPLETELY unacceptable.
Hello Coach! Let’s make sure you get your facts together. Our Corona wrestler was up 5-0 with your girl on her back. YOU failed her by allowing injury time to time out (passed 1:30) and I told the ref that the clock does not show their match any longer and it was clearly out of Injury time. If you wanted to dispute it, you should went to the table instead of crying on here to try to make it my fault. Great coaches approach the table either way legitimate arguments. I don’t care what this guy David says, he’s my biggest trolling fan, that means nothing to wrestling. So again, don’t make an excuse for your lack of attention to the clock. I’m sorry for your wrestler getting injured and I even checked on her IMMEDIATELY to make sure she was okay and you said NOTHING…So move on. Get your story and good luck next season.
Thank you David!
Also you need to report to your ad and they report to CIF.
When I first reached out to Rich one of the first think he state was no ADs or coaches have said anything
So report to CIF
You can also see my post about Queen of the Hill warning of the weight cheating.
Coaches parents speak up for the well being of the kids
It’s is sad how a man who’s done a lot for girls wrestling has suck so low he placed ego ahead of what he started.
I’ve been an advocate to expose Jimmy of his short comings not for personal gain. Rather for the integrity of the sport and safety of the of the girls. It is well known in Souther Section Jimmy cheats at weigh ins. For a year if have worked with CIF to clear their rules up with regards to coaches in the weigh in room. I did this as in 24 Jimmy played word games with the rules and interpreted the work “present” as Coach just hand in a weight sheet and leave. Thanks to Rich at CIF and his CIF team the adjusted verbiage to indicate coaches are to be in the weigh in room during all weigh ins. Ric also took it app on himself to attend the CIF Jimmy hosted.
Now I posted on CA wrestler fb group about the changes and how Jimmy continued to play his games telling coaches they cannot be by scales as he has his own associates run scales. Of course the Jimmy kiss asses attempted to defend him attack me personally. I continued to state facts and post screen shots I e received from past Corona parents confirming his cheating.
Today I was informed Jimmy attempted to control an ex wrestler by contacting her college coaches telling them he will not send them any more girls if they allow his ex wrestler to continue to expose who Jimmy is.
Jimmy has lost the point of his role. He is not the boss of girls wrestling.
