Willauer-Contributing Writer-Poway High School-Poway, CA-Saturday, January 20, 2024-In a battle of top ranked teams in the states of Arizona and California it was the Titans of Poway with 5 pins 2 majors as they defeated the Blue Devils of Sunnyside High School the 37 time defending Arizona state high school state champion by a 47-15 score.
"Our kids wrestled well throughout the contest, Arseni Kinkiniou at 109 and Laird Root wrestled great at 155 Paul Kelly at 141 lost his match but he put everything out on the line along with Robert Platt did a good job at 218."said Coach John Meyers.
"Ben Bomberger at 193, wrestled well despite losing in overtime 5-3. I wasn't too pleased with his performance Paul Kelly fought hard got into one big scramble and make some mistakes he could have caught that kid on his back." said Coach Meyers.
